A !iESOLUTION REQUES'lnO THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS TO CANCEL AND DlSCHA1l.GE CERTAIN
MUNICIPAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES
J1'ROM ALL LIENS FOR TAXES AND TO ORA NT TAX
EXEMPTION.
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater. Florida, a municipa.l corporation,
has acquired certain hereina.fter described real property for road right-of-
way and other publlc use purposes; and
WHEREAS. said Clty of Clearwater desires that the Board of County
Commissioners of Pinellas County discharge any and all liens for taxes from
the date of acqllisition by said City held or owned by the County or the State
of Florida upon said lands heretofore acquired by said City of Clearwater and
to further provide that said lands shall be exempt from County taxation so long
as the same are owned and used for such public purpose; and
WHEREAS. Florida. Statutes 196. Z8. Cancellation of delinquent taxes
upon lands used for road purposes, etc., grants to tlle Board of County
Commissioners or Pinclles County, Florida, full power and authority to
accomplish this request; and
WHEREAS. in order to comply with the policy of said Board. the City
of Clearwater is wUling to guarantee payment of taxes prior to the date of
transfer on the hereinafter described property when the tax rolls reflect
the proper amount and the City is billed for that amount;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA;
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED. AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby formally reques ts the Board of
Co\mty Commissioners of Pinellaa County, Florida. to take alliormal action
necessary to cancel and discharge any and al1liena for taxes, from the
date 01 acquisition by said City, held or owned by Pinellas County or the Slate of
Florida; upon the lands acquired by the City of Clearwater for public purposes
Wllich lands are more partlcularly set out in the Deeds attached hereto as
Exhibit A and made a part hereof, and to provide that said lands shall be exempt
from County taxation so long as the same are used for such public purpose.
z. That the City of Clearwater guarantees payment of taxes prior to
the date of transfer on the hereinabove described properties when the tax
:rolls reficct the proper amount and the City is billed for that amount.
3. 'l'hat a certified copy of this Resolution be delivered forthwith to
the County Administrator for Pinellas County, Florida.
