A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEAR WATER CONFIRMlNG ITS ACTION AUTHORIZING
THE CITY ATTORNEY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CLEARM
WATER TO JOIN IN AN ACTION TO BE FILED AGAINST
PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA, SEEKING TO PROHIBIT
CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE
OUTSIDE CLEARWATER,
WHEREAS, Pinellas County proposes to construct a new Criminal
Court faciUty to be located outside the City limits of the City of Clearwater.
Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, is presenUy the County
Scat of Pinellas County, Florida. and
WHEREAS, a question exists with respect to whether or not Pinellas
County may move any of the Court facilities from the County Sed; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, as the County Seat, should join
in an action with a citizen property owner of Clearwater in order to test
the validity of the 'propos ed action; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to confirm its action taken
August 16, 1979, directing the City Attorney to join the City of Clearwater
.in such action;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby confirms its motion made at its meeting held August 16, 1979, authorizing
the City Attorney to join the City of Clearwater in a legal proceeding to be
filed against Pinellas County, Florida, to prohibit the building of a Criminal
Court facility outaide the County Seat.
