RESOLUTION NO. 99-31
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE' LOCAL MITIGATION
STRATEGY DEVELOPED FOR PINELLAS COUNTY AND
RECOMMENDING ADOPTION BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater resides in an area that is vulnerable to natural
and man-made disasters; and .
WHEREAS, the City supports efforts to make our community more disaster
resistant, thereby reducing the costs of disasters.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has designated that a Local Mitigation Strategy
is the first step in the process of making a community disaster resistant.
WHEREAS, by adopting this strategy, the frame work for future mitigation efforts
and post disaster redevelopment is established and recovery time can be reduced.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City of Clearwater, Florida, approves the Local Mitigation
Strategy developed for Pinellas County, and recommends it be adopted by the PineJlas
County Board of County Commissioners.
