RESOLUTION NO. 99R17
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR A PUBLIC
LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF STATE FOR CONSTRUCTION DURING FY
2000-2001; ASSURING THAT MATCH WILL BE AVAILABLE
AND UNEMCUMBERED AT THE TIME OF GRANT AWARD
(FY2000-2001); ASSURING THAT FUNDING IS SUFFICIENT TO
COMPLETE THE PROJECT; ASSURING THAT SUFFICIENT
FUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO OPERATE THE FACILITY AND
ASSURANCE THAT THE BUILDING WILL BE USED
EXCLUSIVELY AS A PUBLIC LIBRARY.
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater has established a redevelopment plan for North
Green'wood which Includes construction of a new branch library, and has match funds of
$800,000 from Penny for Plnellas funding; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has developed a building program for the
construction of the North Greenwood branch library during FY 2000-2001. as part of the
Clearwater Public Library System, which will result In a building which will be used exclusively
for public library purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to authorize the Mayor to apply for a Florida
Department of State Public Library Construction Grant in order meet the information needs of
the citizens of North Greenwood; now. therefore.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The mayor is hereby authorized to apply for a Public Library Construction
Grant with the knowledge that a required dollar for dollar match will be available and
unencumbered at the time of grant award. This match will be available so that, with the grant.
funding will be sufficient in order that the project will result In a completed building, to be
constructed during FY 2000-2001. In addition. upon completion of the project. sufficient funds
will be available to operate the facility.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
