92-17 :~ - RESOLUTION NO. 92-17 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATERt flORIDA SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF THE "COUNTYWIDE" SIGN REGULATIONS PREPARED BY THE COUNCIL Of MAYORS AND ADOPTED BY THE PINElLAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMiSSIONERS WITHIN THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF PINELLAS COUNTY. WHEREASt the Pinella's County Comprehensive Plan requires consideration of new sign regulations within Pinellas County to improve the aesthetic quality of Count': roadways and to promote consistent and improved identification of businesses along said roadways; and WHEREAS, the Pinellas County Council of Mayors has formulated a set of sign regulations deemed generally acceptable for all of Pinellas County; and WHEREAS, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners has adopted said regulations to apply to all Pinellas County jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, it appears that due to a lack of interest by one or more municipal governments having jurisdiction of more than two percent of the total population of Pinellas County to adopt regulations similar to or more restrictive than those established in said regulations, the regulations will not be applied on a countywide basis; and WHEREASt the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners will reconsider said regulations in the near future: and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater has a longstanding interest in improved sign regulations for unincorporated enclaves within the City of Clearwater; and WHEREAS, the regulations under consideration by the Pinellas CountY Board of County Commissioners are generally compatible with similar regulations in place in the City of Clearwater, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA THAT THE PINELLAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IS ENCOURAGED TO ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT THE "COUNTYWIDE" SIGN REGULATIONS FOR THE UNINCORPORATED AREAS OF PINELLAS COUNTY, PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6 th day of February , 1992.
