A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE METROPOLITAN
PLANNING ORGANIZATION ATTEMPT TO IMPROVE
THE PRIORITY ESTABLISHED FOR THE WIDENING
OF STATE ROAD 60 BETWEEN McMULLEN-BOOTH
ROAD AND U. S. 19 IN THE FIVE YEAR TRANS-
PORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. L
WHEREAS, since the widening of Courtney Campbell Causeway,
a short section of State Road 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) between McMullen-
Booth Road and U.S. 19 is the only section with narrow lanes and no left
turn lane; and
WHEREAS, this situation provides a safety hazard on State Road
60 and the City of Clearwater feels that this project should be placed on a
higher priority in the Five Year Transportation Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Organization is the agency
authorized to attempt to improve the priority established for this section of
State Road 60;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby requests the Metropolitan
Planning Organization to attempt to improve the priority established for the
widening of State Road 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) between McMullen-Booth
Road and U. S. 19 in the Five Year Transportation Improvement Program.
2. That the City Commission further urges the Florida Department
of Transportation to accept the recommendations of the Metropolitan
Planning Organization and immediately place this important project at a
higher priority in the Five Year Transportation Improvement Program.
3. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded forthwith to
the Metropolitan Planning Organization and to the Florida Department of
Transportation.
