A RESOLUTION REQUESTING FLORIDA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO RECONSIDER ITS POSITION
AS TO THE BACKGROUND COLOR OF THE DOWNTOWN
STREET NAME SIGNS.
WHEREAS, the Downtown Development Board is desirous of
providing certain street name signs in the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Board has suggested using a standard brown for the
background of such signs rather than the green background as provided in
the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has agreed
to reconsider its position as to the brown background if requested to do
so by the City Commission of the City of Clearwater;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby requests the Florida Department
of Transportation to reconsider its position as to the use of a standard brown
rather than green for the background of street name signs in the downtown
area.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith
to Gerald G. Lott, P. E., Interim District Traffic Operations Engineer,
Florida Department of Transportation, PO Box 1249, Bartow, Florida
33830.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
