REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT FOR SUCH ROAD AREA.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has received several requests
for a traffic signal at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Gulf to Bay

Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, previous requests for a traffic signal were submitted
in May of 1974 and April of 1976; and
{ '1 WHEREAS traffic counts now indicate that sufficient traffic exists
to warrant placing a signal at such intersection; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the area of State Road 60 between
U.S. 19 East to the Courtney Campbell Causeway be widened because of
y f the very large increase in the volume of traffic; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to request the Florida
Department of Transportation to advance its time schedule for widening
this road area; and
b WHEREAS, the City Commission also wishes to request the Florida
k & Department of Transportation to consider reducing the speed limit on the

portion of State Road 60 identified herein until such time as it is widened;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS;
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby requests the Florida Department of Transportation to issue a permit
in order that a traffic signal can be installed at the intersection of Bayview

2. That the City Commission requests that the Florida Department
of Transportation advance its scheduled time for widening State Road 60
between U.S. 19 East to the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
3. That the City Commission further requests that the Florida
Department of Transportation consider a reduction in the speed limit
applicable to that portion of State Road 60 between U. S. 19 East to the
Courtney Campbell Causeway until the road is widened in order to provide
more safety.
4. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Florida Department of Transportation.
5. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
