RESOLUTION i No. 79 - 36 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER OPPOSING PCB 6a WHICH WOULD REQUIRE ALL MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND CERTAIN EMPLOYEES TO FILE COMPLETE FINANCIAL .DISCLOSURE. WHEREAS, the House Committee on Ethics and Elections has reported favorably PCB 6a requiring all municipal officers and certain employees to file full disclosure; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes that the passage of this bill will only increase the difficulty most municipalities already encounter in encouraging people to serve in municipal government; and WHEREAS, the benefits to be derived from such filing are small as compared to the restriction such filing will create in securing the services of people who receive little remuneration at the local level for such govern- mental service; and WHEREAS, the City Commission would like to support legislation adopting a supplemental filing similar to that currently filed by City of Clearwater officers and employees, a copy of such local legislation is attached; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby wishes to express its opposition to PCB 6a requiring full financial disclosure by municipal officers and certain municipal employees. 2. That the City Commission would request that the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation give consideration to legislation supporting an additional disclosure requirement similar to that presently used by the City of Clearwater, a copy of such local legislation is attached hereto.
