A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER ENDORSING THE CONTINUANCE
OF THE PINELLAS COUNTY FAIR AT A PERMANENT
FAIRGROUND AND THE EXPANSION OF EXHIBITS,
CONTESTS, AND ENTERTAINMENT OFFERED AT SAID
FAIR TO EMPHASIZE A "COUNTRY FAIR" IN WHICH THE
CITIZENS. OF PINELLAS COUNTY MAY MORE FULLY
PARTICIPATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater endorses the continuance of the
Pinellas County Fair and recognizes that new fairgrounds are necessary to
accommodate the County Fair; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater recognizes that expansion of Fair
attractions to include a. greater selection of entertainment, contests, and
exhibits, will encourage greater participation.by the citizens of Pinellas
County; and
WHEREAS, the provision of permanent facilities for entertainment
attractions during the Fair which could be utilized throughout the year would
enhance the ability of Pinellas County to offer a broad range of leisure
activities to its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the addition of contests and exhibits designed to emphasize
a "Country Fair's character for the Pinellas County Fair would increase its
attractiveness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby wishes to endorse continuance of the Pinellas County Fair and hereby
further supports the following:
(a) The City encourages the contiauad support by the Board of
County Commissioners of the Pinellas County Fair, including the acquisition
of property upon which would be -located the permanent fairgrounds.

(b) The City endorses and encourages the addition of recognized
entertainment to be included in the annual Pinellas County Flair.
(c) The City endorses emphasis"upon a "Country Fair" which should
include liv9stock expositions, agricultural and horticultural expositions,
arts and crafts exhibits, homemaking contests, equestrian contests, historic
and other exhibits specific to Florida and Pinellas County.
(d) The City endorses the concept of permanent Fair facilities which
could be utilized for entertainment or other public purposes throughout the
year.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to
the Chairman of the Pinellas County Commission and copies shall be forwarded
to the Mayor of each City in Pinellas County, Florida,
3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption,
