No. 79 - 19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING IN
PRINCIPLE THE PROPOSED BILL RELATING TO
AMENDING THE ANNEXATION LAWS TO CREATE
LOCAL ANNEXATION COMMISSIONS.
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has prepared a Committee Bill
which would amend Section 171. 0413, Florida Statutes, to provide a new
annexation procedure; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater wishes to
go on record as supporting the intent and purpose of the Committee Bill; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater wishes further
to express its concern relating to the makeup of the annexation commission
and request the Legislature to consider whether or not already existing
agencies within each County could be utilized to function as an annexation
commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby wishes to express its support of the purpose and intent of the proposed
Committee Bill amending Section 171. 0413, Florida Statutes.
2. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby requests the State Legislature to consider amending the proposed bill
to permit other agencies already functioning within each of the Counties to
perform the function of an annexation commission as called for by the bill.
3. That copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Chairman
of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation and to each of the municipalities
of Pinellas County, Florida,
