A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION REQUESTING
THE U. S, COAST GUARD TO REVISE AND IMPI:EMENTT
NEW REGULATIONS TO GOVERN THE DRAWBRIDGE
LOCATED AT CLEARWATER PASS,
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater owns and controls the operation of
Clearwater Pass Bridge and desires that special drawbridge regulations now
imposed on the operation of the Bridge be amended; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater feels that such amendment will
provide a means for minimizing disruption to the flow of vehicular traffic
across the Bridge without unreasonable restriction to the passage of
watercraft; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater desires to officially request the
U. S. Coast Guard to amend and implement these special drawbridge
regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater previously forwarded a similar
request to the U. S. Coast Guard through the adoption of Resolution No.
78-74;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLrLOWS:
1. That Resolution No. 78-74 adopted by the City Commission on
June 15, 1978, be and the same is hereby repealed.
2. That the City Commission hereby officially requests the adoption
and implementation by the U. S. Coast Guard of amended special regulations
for the operation of Clearwater Pass Bridge as follows:
"From 12:00 Noon to 7:00 P.M. on Saturdays, Sundays,
and holidays, the draw need not be opened except on the
hour, quarter hour, half hour and three-quarter hour to
allow accumulated vessels to pass. At all other times, except
as presently provided under Sub-part 117.4.67 of the Coast
Guard Drawbridge Operating Regulations, the draw shall
open on signal. "

3. A certified copy shall be trausmitted to the Commander, 7th Coast
Guard District at Miami, Florida,,with a requeot for such amendment by
the Coast Guard.
4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
