A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, WAIVING THE
SIGN PERMIT FEES TO BE PAID BY THE CLEARWATER
JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN OBTAINING
PERMITS TO PLACE SIGNS ON CERTAIN BENCHES
LOCATED AT BUS STOPS,
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, and the Clearwater Junior
Chamber of Commerce have entered into an agreement dated March 2, 1978,
permitting the Junior Chamber to erect benches containing advertising signs
at certain locations and in certain zones; and
WHEREAS, the placement of such advertising on the back of such
benches is a sign within the provisions of the current Clearwater Sign Code
and would require a sign permit; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Junior Chamber of Commerce is conducting
this program as a non-profit program with a view toward providing aid to the
citizens of Clearwater in traveling within Clearwater and in using the current
bus transit system; and
WHEREAS, the imposition of the sign permit fee in the instant situation
will result in rendering the program impossible to complete; and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Commission that it would be
in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Clearwater that the sign
permit fees be waived for this program thus permitting the program to be
implemented;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1, That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby agrees
to waive the sign permit fees that would apply to the Clearwater Junior Chamber
of Commerce in obtaining permits to place advertising signs on the various
benches placed at bus stops pursuant to the agreement between the City of
Clearwater and the Clearwater Junior Chamber of Commerce dated March
2, 1978,
