A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CLEARWATER URGING THE COUNT'
COMMISSION OF PINELLAS COUNTY TO SUSPEND
FURTHER IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS PLAN TO RELOCATE
THE COUNTY SAIL AND CRIMINAL COURT COMPLEX.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater has
previously submitted Resolution No. 77-43 and Resolution No. 78-28
indicating its opposition to the contemplated relocation of the County jail
facility and criminal court complex; and
WHEREAS, the County Commission at its meeting held March 7,
1978, decided to move forward with implementation of the plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater would
like to request that the County Commission suspend further implementation
of the project in order that all interested parties may seek reconsideration
of the decision;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY ANA REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby requests
the County Commission to suspend further action relating to its decision to
relocate the County jail and criminal court complex in order that all interested
parties may provide facts and information on the present and future impact
this decision will have on Pinellas County's citizens and economy and to request
a reconsideration of this plan.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Chairman
and each member of the Pinellas County Commission and to the Mayor of
each municipality in Pinellas County, Florida.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March, A. D. 1978.
