A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE WATER
ELEMENT OF THE FLORIDA STATE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN,
WHEREAS, the State Division of Planning has prepared the Water Element
of the Florida State Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Water Element Plan has been reviewed and analyzed
by the staff of the City of Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, such analysis has raised concerns regarding policy statements
numbers 2 and 5 on pages 14 and 68, and policy statements 6 and 7 on pages 15
and 69, in that such policy statements raise questions relating to the water
crop theory and the type of water supply source that may be available at a
future time; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
wishes to oppose the adoption of the policy statements referred to herein
in their present written form;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1.. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby opposes the adoption of Policy Statement Numbers 2 and 5 and Policy
Statement Numbers 6 and 7 contained in the Water Element of the Florida State
Comprehensive Plan as they are presently written.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Chair
of the Pinellas County Commission and to the Lt. Governor of the State of
Florida.
