RESOLUTION
No. 76 -160
A RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING OPPOSITION TO THE
CREATION OF A NEW METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION FOR PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the City Commission on November 4, 1976, adopted a
Resolution opposing the creation of a Metropolitan Planning Organization for
Pinellas County and urged that Pinellas Planning Council accept such designation
and function as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Pinellas County; and
WHEREAS, on or about December B, 1976, a letter was received from
the Division of Planning and Programming responding on behalf of the
Governor, which letter requested the Ci?y Commission to reconsider its
1 position and support the creation of the new organization; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has considered the letter and reconsidered
its reasons for adopting Resolution No. 76-134 and find that its decision remains
unchanged;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS;
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby reaffirms
its position as set out in Resolution No. 76-134 adopted November 4, 1976,
that the Pinellas Planning Council accept designation as the Metropolitan
Planning Organization for Pinellas County, Florida,
Z. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Don Jones,
Chairman, Pinellas County Commission and to Honorable Reubin Askew,
Governor of the State of Florida.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
