R E S O L U T I O N
No. 76 - 134
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE CREATION OF A
NEW METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION
FOR PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, it has been indicated that consideration is being given to
the creation of a Metropolitan Planning Organization for Pinellas County; and
WHEREAS, another organization, naniely the Pinellas Planning
Council already exists and could perform such function; and
WHEREAS, the creation of a new planning organization is unnecessary;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby opposes
the creation of a Metropolitan Planning Organization for Pinellas County,
Florida, and instead urges that the Pinellas Planning Council accept designation
as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Pinellas County.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Don Jones,
Chairman, Pinellas County Commission and to Honorable Reubin Askew,
Governor of the State of Florida.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
