RESOLUTION
No. 76 - 73
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE LOCAL TRANSIT
INTEGRATION PLAN AND URGING THE TAMPA BAY
AREA RAPID TRANSIT AUTHORITY TO IMPLEMENT
SAME AS SOON AS IS PRACTICABLE.
WHEREAS, the Local Transit Integration Plan tails for a flexible
phased consolidation of the existing local public bus operations leading toward
eventual ownership and operation by TBART if so approved by the region's
voters; and
WHEREAS, the Plan recognizes a need for improved and coordinated
regional transit service; and
.WHEREAS, a regionalized transit organization will have greater access
to Federal financial assistance; and
WHEREAS, such a program will be better able to provide transit service
to the region's riders; and
WHEREAS, TBART will certify that the level of service rendered within
the existing operating jurisdictions will not be reduced;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby endorses
the phased integration concept and urges the Tampa Bay Area Rapid Transit
Authority to adopt it for implementation as soon as is practicable.
