A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE
Wall" SCHOOL BOARD OF PINELLAS
II, _' e COUNTY TO CONSIDER CERTAIN
FACTORS IN MAKING A DECISION
• WITH RESPECT TO SOUTH WARD
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
l WHEREAS, it is understood that the Pinellas County School
r?,;a1;;f board has under study consideration of action to be taken with respect
to South Ward Elementary School; and
r,. WHEREAS, removal of South Ward Elementary School from the

area in which it is located would affect the economic stability of the

;- area and thus its tax base; and
WHEREAS, South Ward Elementary School has always existed
p as a naturally integrated and balanced school; and

WHEREAS, loss of the school will mean loss of this natural
balance which will then have to be recreated at another school by

artificial means; and
WHEREAS, South Ward Elementary School serves as mhistorieal
and cultural focal point for the area and the community;

t NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. The City Commission of the City of Clearwater requests
the Pinellas County School Board to give consideration to the above
described factors in its deliberations relating to any action that might
be taken with respect to South Ward Elementary School.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of June, A, D, 1976.
