A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE UNITED STATES
ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS TAKE ACTION TO DREDGE
THE CLEARWATER PASS AT BEACON NUMBER 4
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Pass navigational channel is of vital
concern to the commercial boating industry; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Pass navigational channel is of vital concern
to the recreational boating industry; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater, Pass navigational channel is of concern
relating to the intercoastal waterway system; and •,
WHEREAS, a sand bar has occurred filling the Clearwater Pass project
channel at Beacon Number 4 thereby causing a change in the channel moving
to the East; and
WHEREAS, the sand bar has created hazardous navigation into and
out of the Pass; and
WHEREAS, the maintenance of this project channel is the responsibility
of the Army Corps of Engineers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
That the City Commission hereby requests that the United States
Army Corps of Engineers take immediate steps to dredge and reopen the
Clearwater Pass project channel located at Beacon Number 4.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of May, A. D. 1976.
