A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CLEARWATER
TO DEED A TRACT OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED
ON THE BAY SIDE OF SAND KEY TO THE UNITED STATES
COAST GUARD
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a certain tract of land owned
by the City of Clearwater, said tract being more fully described in a Warranty

Deed recorded in O.R. 3882, page 713, of the Public Records of Pinellas
County, Florida, is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was
obtained; and
..
WHEREAS, the United States Coast Guard has approached the City
of Clearwater indicating that it would like to use the property for a Coast
Guard base from which to conduct search and rescue operations as well as
other programs of emergency aid and disaster assistance; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that the tract should
be deeded to the United States Coast Guard for One Dollar ($1. 00) and other
valuable consideration with the provisions that a permanent structure would
be constructed on the tract by the Coast Guard to be used in conducting the
emergency programs described herein, which structure would revert to the
City of Clearwater should the Coast Guard cease using the tract for this
purpose and with the further provision that a reverter clause be placed in
the deed providing that the tract would revert to the City of Clearwater should
the Coast Guard ever cease using the property for the purposes described
herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby determines that the certain
tract of land owned by the City of Clearwater, and more particularly described
in a Deed found in O. R. 3882, page 713, of the Public Records of Pinellas
County, Florida, is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was
obtained and that such tract be deeded to the United States Coast Guard with
-such Deed to contain the following provisions:

(a) That the Deed be given for $1. 00 and other good and
valuable consideration.
(b) That the land be used by the United States Coast Guard for
the purpose of conducting search and rescue operations from a
base to be constructed thereon and for the purpose of providing
other emergency and disaster aid.
(c) That the land and all improvements constructed thereon would
revert to the City of Clearwater should the Coast Guard ever
cease using the land and improvements for the purpose
described herein.
Z. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its adoption.
