RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL
GRANT TO ESTABLISH PROJECT "MAJOR CASE UNIT" AND
AGREEMENT OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
TO PARTICIPATE IN APPLICATION AND MATCH FUNDING
OF "MAJOR CASE UNIT"
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, has been advised that
the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is making application for Federal funding

in the amount of $292,700. 32 to establish a Major Case Unit; and
WHERE'.S, the St. Petersburg and Clearwater Police Departments
have requested to participate in the formation of the Major Case Unit with
the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Grant involved will require a cash match
of $58,500. 00 in funding to secure these Federal monies; and
WHEREAS, one-third of that cash match to be paid by the City of
Clearwater will be $19,500. 00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the participation by the City of Clearwater in the Major Case
Unit project generally described above is in the best interests of the City of
Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida, and the general public.
2. That if such grant be made, the City of Clearwater will provide
or make necessary arrangements to provide such funds included in the
application and budget schedules as to comprise one-third of $53, 500 or
$19, 500 as the City of Clearwater local share of the cost of the project or
as may be required by the act to defray the cost of the project generally
described above.
3. That the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and the Participating
Agencies of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Clearwater, Florida, recognize
.that all of the required local share costs of the project are to be in the form of

appropriated cash and that such funds designated as local cash contributions
are to be provided by the participating agencies and are new funds for
Criminal Justice use for the express purpose of matching the Law Enforcement
Assistance Administration funds.
4. That certified copies of this resolution be included as part of
the application for said grant to be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal
Justice Planning and Assistance.
5. That if such grant be made, the Applicant, Pinellas County
Sheriff's Office, shall maintain such records necessary and furnish such
information, data and documents as required by the Bureau of Criminal
Justice Planning and Assistance to support the implementation of the
project generally described above.
6. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
