RESOLUTION
No, 76 - 24
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, has completed the
construction of Pierce Boulevard which ties into Court Street and provides
a State Road 60 By-pads route from Memorial Causeway (SR 60) to Gulf to
Bay Boulevard (SR 60) and makes it necessary to revise signing on State
Road 60; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Transportation has
jurisdiction over State Road 60 and any signing revisions made on said State
Road must be approved by the said Department of Transportation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby officially requests the approval
of the Florida Department of Transportation to make the following signing
revisions on State Road 60 within the City of Clearwater:
a. Install signs on West approach of State Road 60 (Memorial Causeway)
to Pierce Boulevard informing the public that Pierce Boulevard is a
State Road 60 By-pass route.
b. Install overhead lane control signs on the East approach of State
Road 60 (Gulf to Bay Boulevard) to Highland Avenue informing the
public that the two inside lanes are for Court Street and the Gulf
Beaches traffic and the two outside lanes are for State Road 60
traffic Westbound,
c. The exact legend and locations of these signs will be mutually agreed
upon by the Florida Department of Transportation and the Clearwater
Director of Traffic Engineering.
d. The City of Clearwater will be responsible for installing an adequate
number of signs on Pierce Boulevard, Chestnut Street and Court Street
to route the traffic to the Gulf Beaches and State Road 60.

a. The City of Clearwater will be responsible for making
any revisions to the traffic control devices required on
Pierce Boulevard, Chestnut Street and Court Street as a result
of the revised signing. ,
2. That the City of Clearwater hereby agrees that it will not hold the c
Florida Department of Transportation responsible for any roadway failures '
or any other damages that may result from the additional traffic being routes
over Pierce Boulevard and Court Street as an alternate route to State Road
6o.

3. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted forthwith
to the Florida Department of Transportation, Bartow; Florida.
