WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has received or anticipates receiving the following entitlements from the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act: January 1972 - June 1973 $1,048,656 July 1973 - June 1974 741,065 July 1974 - June 1975 799,119 July 1975 - rune 1976 827, 283 TOTAL $3,416,123; and WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has budgeted from the Federal ' State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act funding for the following projects: Fire Station No. 5 ' $ 70,000 Bike Trails 6,000 North Beach Marina 252,519 Kings Highway Neighborhood Center . 5, 000 Martin Luther King Center 314,350 Police Station 126, 000 City Hall Annex 175,000 City Hall Air Conditioning 40,000 Housing and Redevelopment 207,400 Chesapeake Villas 87,000 Social Action Efforts 111,900 Salary Adjustment FY 73/74 400,000 Cost of Living Adjustment FY 73/74 20, 000 Portion of Police Salaries FY 74/75 479,145 Portion of Fire Salaries FY 74/75 319,974 Portion of Police Salaries FY 75/76 459,870 Portion of Fire Salaries FY 75/76 367,413 TOTAL (Includes Interest) 3,441,571; and WHEREAS, the estimated value of 1 mill for Fiscal Year 1975/76 is $80B, 000; and WHEREAS, the discontinuance of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act would require the addition of one mill increase in taxes to Clearwater residents to continue present level budgeting; and WHEREAS, the discontinuance of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act would impose an undue burden on Clearwater citizens to- generate new revenues; and ' Reao. #75-16Z_ 12--1B-7S . 1 1 _ .'i`.'.'xit".:,: "?,:'vt•1RYhtfi:°,'k?+?z'as??i?SaT??:li'? WHEREAS, the City Commission considers that extension of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act is in the best interest of the City of Clearwater and that early adoption would aid the City in its budgetary efforts for the Fiscal Year 1976/77; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to officially urge members of Congress representing the State of Florida to support the extension and early adoption of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, hereby officially urges the members of Congress who represent the State of Florida to support : extension of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972. 2. That it is further urged that the aforesaid members of Congress strive for early adoption of the extension of the Federal State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972 in order to aid the City of Clearwater, Florida, and other municipalities in their budgetary efforts fox Fiscal Year 1976/77. 3. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to the aforesaid members of Congress who represent the State of Florida. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of December, A. D. 1975.
