Et WHEREAS, the percentage of real property being piaced'in a tax

exempt status in and about the City of Clearwater and Pinellas County
6';?ry continues to increase; and
ta WHEREAS, such loss of tax base can have an effect upon a
municipality's efforts to provide services, such as water, sewer and trash
collection through loss of revenue; and

WHEREAS, a need exists to provide a more restrictive statute
iPA governing the grant of tax exempt status to non-profit corporations;
Sys NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
wk IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
, 1. That the City Commission hereby requests the Florida Legislature
?a to give immediate consideration to providing restrictions and a" redefinition of '
the type of nonprofit operations entitled to tax exemption.
4 Z. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith
to the Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, Pinellas County
