WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater feels that in order to
insure maximum citizen participation and community-wide support for
the final draft of the proposed County Charter for Pinellas County, Florida,
that the drafting of the proposed Charter should be accomplished by a
charter commission established and appointed under the provisions of the
general law; and
WHEREAS, such charter commission membership ehould include
as wide a spectrum of citizen groups as possible to include representation
from upper Pinellas County, specifically City of Clearwater;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of Clearwater, Florida, urges
that the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County give the
responsibility for the drafting ofa proposed County Charter to a properly
constituted charter corrunission established under the general law and
that the charter commission so established be required to submit a final
draft of a proposed Charter within six months from the date of its establish-
meet.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be transmitted
forthwith to the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida.
