RESOLUTION
No. 75 .. 41
WHEREAS, the consultant for the Pinellas County Transportation
Authority has made certain recommendations concerning obnstruction of a
Pinellas Parkway; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater feelsthat such recommendations
would be detrimental to the welfare and safety of the citizens of the area
and that it would be better to consider widening U. S. Highway 19 in lieu thereof;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to officially inform the Pinellas
County Transportation Authority of their recommendations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission officially urges the Pinellas County
Transportation Authority to reject the recommendations of its consultants for
a Pinellas Parkway or any toll road or freeway.
2. That the Pinellas County Transportation Authority take into
consideration at once the widening of U, S. Highway 19 as a proper alternative
proposal.
Z. That certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to
the Pinellas County Transportation Authority and to the Pinellas County
Legislative Delegation and the Pinellas County Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of March, A. D. 1975.
