RES0LUT'!ON ;
No. 73 - 40
WHEREAS, a U.6, Coast Guard Station was commissioned in
Clearwater on August 1, 1973, and assigned primary search and rescue
responsibility for the Coastal and Intracoastal Waterway area within
'4'• fifty miles of Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, the first year following such commissioning, the
JY. Station conducted more than three hundred search and rescue missions,

't- all of which were carried out with a high degree of professionalism; and
WHEREAS, through their actions, the crew of the Clearwater
Coast Guard Station have added greatly to the safety of marine activities
in our area and have earned the respect of our boating community; and
WHEREAS, the Commandant of the Coast Guard has officially
commanded the officer In Charge, BMC Richard A, Mitchell and his
crew for their outstanding performance;
NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS: . . .
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby officially commends the
Officer in Charge, BMC Richard A. Mitchell, and his crew of the U. S.
Coast Guard Station in Clearwater for their concern for the safety of
the boating public and the high degree of professionalism they have
exercised in carrying out their missions.
Z. That a duplicate orlginal of this Resolution be forwarded
forthwith to said Officer in Charge and a copy of same be forwarded to
the Commander of the Seventh Coast Guard District, Miami, Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of March, A, D. 1975.
