RESOLUTION
No. 75 - 34
WHEREAS, the electors of the City of Clearwater have, by a referendum
straw vote held In conjunction with the recent City election, expressed their
desire that the City of Clearwater not provide municipally owned land for a
campus for the University of South Florida; and
WHEREAS, it is felt by many concerned that such a campus would be
desirable but that the site for said proposed campus and the cost thereof
should be a joint effort of all of the citizens of Pinellas County; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater feels that
the County of Pinellas may own certain lands centrally located in Pinellas
County that would be desirable for a University of South Florida campus site;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
officially urges the Board of Commissioners of Pinellas County to provide
land for a campus for the University of South Florida at a centrally located
site in Pinellas County thus insuring participation by all County residents.
2. That certified copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded forthwith
to the Board of Commissioners of Pinellas County, Pinellas County Court
House, Clearwater, Florida 33516; to Robert B. Mautz, Chancellor, Board
of Regents, State University System of Florida, 107 W. Gaines Street, Tallahassee,
Florida 32304; to Cecil Mackey, President, University of South Florida,
Tampa, Florida; and to the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of March, A. D. 1975.
