RESOLUTION
No. 75 - 12
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention: of the City of
Clearwater that the State of Florida, Department of AdminiRtration, Division
of State Planning, Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance, has
issued a "Policy Statement for Implementing Preliminary Report on Standard
Goals" on August 29, 1974, as authorized and directed by Executive Order
7373; and
WHEREAS, Standard PO-5. 02 Combined Police Services recommends
the abolishment of all police agencies with fewer than ten sworn employees,
the total consolidation of local government services, including mergers,
the total consolidation of police services, regional consolidation, the
regionalization of specific police services, metropolitanization, and more; and
WHEREAS, such proposals are neither necessary nor desirable and
would in fact weaken all governmental services and cost far more than present
services; and
WHEREAS, there is no demand for any such merger, consolidation,
or abolition on the part of those citizens receiving such services and such
policies are inimicable and contrary to the best interests of freely elected
local government;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby supports the Town of Belleair
and other municipalities covered by said Standard PO-5. 02 of the State of
Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Planning and Assistance in its opposition
to the proposals of said Bureau.

2, That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation and to the Town Commissions of
