A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE IMPLEMENTATION
OF THE 911 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBER WITHIN
THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES; AUTHORIZING THE 911
ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE AND THE CITY MANAGER
TO TAKE SUCH ACTION AS IS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT
THE SAID 911 TELEPHONE NUMBER THROUGHOUT
PINELLAS COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Chapter 74-577, Special Acts of Florida, 1974, provides
for the implementation of a 911 emergency telephone number system throughout
Pinellas County, and requires that all governing bodies located in Pinellas
County shall take the necessary action for implementing within their jurisdiction
the order for the 911 number to the telephone company by January 1, 1975; and
WHEREAS, the City has designated a representative, which representative
has met with representatives of all of the other governing bodies in Pinellas
County, at which meeting the 911 Administrative: Committee was formed, and
determined to be the control agency for the 911 system under the provisions
of Chapter 74-577;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater does hereby agree that it will take all

action necessary for the continued planning and implementation of the 911 emergency
system and that it will continue to cooperate with the 911 Administrative
Committee in that regard.
2. That the 911 Administrative Committee and the City Manager are

hereby authorized to take whatever steps are necessary on behalf of the City of
Clearwater to implement the 911 emergency telephone number throughout Pinellas
County.
