RES OLUTION
No, 74 - 149
WHEREAS, the City Commission, the Planning and Zoning Board,
a Consultant and the Planning Staff prepared a Comprehensive Plan during
the 1969-1970 period; and
WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan, as amended, was adopted in
March, 1972, as a guideline for annexation and rezoning and other public and
private land development and has been reviewed and amended annually from
date of adoption; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Department has, over a three month period,
reviewed the Comprehensive Plan for conformance with new density ranges,
land use classification, land use distribution and further incorporated
proposals from the New North and Inner City reports; and
WHEREAS, public hearings were held by the Planning and Zoning Board
on October ZZ, 1974, and the City Commission on November 4, 1974, for the
purpose of the annual update and adoption of the Comprehensive Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the Comprehensive Plan of the City of Clear-mater, Florida,
adopted in March, 1972, and as amended, is hereby recognized as the official
physical development guideline of the City of Clearwater.
Z. That such physical development policy guideline has been reviewed
annually and reflects Commission policy.
3. That the City of Clearwater recognizes in principle the policies
and guidelines suggested in the "New North" and "Inner City" studies as a
part of the latest amendment to its Comprehensive Plan:
4. That due to the nature of the rapid development in Florida, and
particularly in Pinellas County, the Comprehensive Plan shall be reconsidered

and that annual updating will occur on a yearly basis so as to anticipate
and direct a policy of controlled growth within the urban area.
