RESOLUTION
No, 74 M 133
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, together with other municipalities
In the State of Florida, levy occupational license taxes which sums are used
to pay for the various services rendered the citizens; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 20S, Florida Statutes, specifically Section 205. 043,
relating to conditions for levy for municipalities, prohibits levying of occupational
license taxes at a rate greater than that in effec' in the municipality for the
year beginning October 1, 1971; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater feels that this is an unfair
prohibition and should be repealed or amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby requests the Florida Legislature
to vigorously pursue the repeal or amendment to Section 205. 043, Florida
Statutes, and to refer this request to the appropriate committees.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded fc rthwith
to the Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, Pinellas County Legislative
Delegation and to the Florida League of Cities.
