RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Central Pinellas Transit Authority is performing
a valuable at.d much needed service with its many bus routes; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission feels that a study should be made as
to the feasibility of allowing the elderly and handicapped citizens of'the area
to ride on the bus system without charge; and
WHEREAS, such a service would help businesses, reduce traffic,
reduce the need for more parking spaces and increase business opportunities
for the handicapped;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
i, That the City Commission hereby officially requests the Central
Pinellas Transit Authority to conduct a study as to the feasibility of allowing
the elderly and handicapped citizens of the area to ride on the bus system
without charge.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to
Mr. Wilbur Barnes, Executive Director of the Central Pinellas Transit Authority,
14940 - 49th Street North, Clearwater, Florida 33516.
