RESOLUTION
No. 74 - 48
WHEREAS, the City Commission has been advised that an act relating
to setting a Pinellas County election day to provide for such election to be held
the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of odd numbered years
has been proposed by the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater is required by its Charter to hold
an annual election, which said election provides for the continuity of the
members of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, this provision of the City Charter can only be changed by
an act passed by the Florida State Legislature or a referendum approved by
the electors of the City of Clearwater;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby officially opposes the passage
of an act to set a Pinellas County Election Day to be the first Tuesday after
the first Monday in November of odd numbered years.
2. That copies of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to each member
of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation.
