RESOLUTION
No. 74 - 31
WHEREAS, the barge currently being operated by the City of
Clearwater In Its artificial roof project must be returned to the State for use
at Caladesi State Park; and
WHEREAS,. the neighboring communities have declined to participate
a with Clearwater In the purchase of a barge which could be used to continue

the artificial reef project, but the County of Pinellas has offered to take over
fz the project and expand the reef program; and
k WHEREAS, the County of Pinellas has offered to purchase the barge
%' with the County paying half of the cost and the remainder shared by neighboring
communities, and the County would then assume operating costs of the
i.14%.
project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater is willing to participate in the County's
project and to contribute $10, 000 toward the purchase of a barge, subject to the
County's obtaining staging areas in other parts of the County which would relieve
or make it possible to vacate the large area at the Seminole boat launching
ramp presently used for storage;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULYAND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby officially confirms its intention to
participate in the Artificial Reef Project as outlined by the County of Pinellas
and authorizes the expenditure of $10, 000 as the City's share in the purchase of
a barge for such project, subject to the County's obtaining ataging areas In
other parts of the County which would relieve or make it possible to vacate the
large area at the Seminole boat launching ramp presently used for storage.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to
the Board of County Commissioners, Pinellas County, Florida.
