RESOLUTION
No. 73 - 86

WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater in the operation of its financial
affairs utilizes a number of bank accounts in various banks; acid
WHEREAS, it was arbitrarily determined at the time certain of these
accounts were opened that checks drawn on such accounts would be signed by
hand by both the City Treasurer and the City Manager; or in certain other
accounts by the single signature of the City Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, that with increased volume of checks issued, the time
consumed in obtaining handwritten signatures has become burdensome; and
WHEREAS, mechanical check-signing equipment is available in the
Finance Office and is currently in use to sign checks drawn on most of the
City of Clearwater accounts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1, That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
officially designates and authorizes the City Treasurer to use mechanical check-
signing equipment to affix the facsimile signatures of A. C. Lowrey, Jr. , City
Treasurer, and Gerald B. Weimer, Acting City Manager, to all checks drawn
by the City of Clearwater on any and every account of any fund operated by the
City of Clearwater in any bank where such account or accounts are maintained.
2. That certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to
the various Banks of the area where accounts of the City of Clearwater are
maintained and said copy shall be the official authorization of the City of
Clearwater to such Bank to accept checks bearing mechanically affixed
facsimile signatures of the above-named City Treasurer and Acting City Manager.
