RESOLUTION
No. 73 - 2.9
WHEREAS, Section 701 of the Housing Act"of 1954, as amended. provides
for the making of grants by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to
Cities of over 50.000 population to auist them in Comprehensive Planning
Activities; and
WHEREAS, in March of 1972. the Department of Housing and Urban
Development issued its most recent handbook of procedures and priorities
with respect to the Comprehensive Planning Assistance Program. which
handbook sets highest priority on Management Assistance activities; and
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater desires to file its Comprehensive
Planning Assistance Application to seek Federal financial assistance for the
planning and improvement of its Management Activities; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that the Comprehensive Planning Assistance
Activities will cost $37) 500.00. of which $12.500.00 is to be the City1s share
and $2.5) 000. 00 is to be the Department of Housing and Urban Development's
share;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That an application be made to the Department of Housing and
Urban Development for a grant in an amount authorized by Section 701 of the
Housing Act of 1954. as amended, which amount is presently estimated to be
$2.5.000.00. and that the Applicant will pay the balance of the cost from other
funds available to it.
2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute
and file such application with the Department of Housing and Urban Development,
to provide information and to furnish such documents a,s may be required by said
Department; to execute such contracts as are required by said Department, and
to act as the authorized correspondent of the Applicant.
