RESOLUTION
No. 73 _ 7.7
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater has been
informed that a proposed bill rela.ting 1;0 Pinellas County to proVide that
municipal governments sha.ll not profit from any service rendered to subscribers
of the service has been presented to the l?lnelIas County Legislative Delegation
for consideration; and
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater has reduced its ad valorem millage
for the past four years and it does use part of its net profits from utility operations
to help to effectuate this millage reduction; and
WHEREAS. such a proposal offers little in the way of inducement for
good management policies; and
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater has established utility rates which arc
fair and equitable and which are arrived at by public hearings thereon; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater on the face of it and due to the scarcity
of information is unalterably opposed to the passage of such a bill;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby officially opposes unalterably
the passage of any legislation which prondes that municipal governments shall
not profit from any service rendered to subscribers of the service, with
referendum or not, and respectfully petitions the Delegation to remove said
bill from its calendar.
Z. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted forthwith
to the Pinellaa County Legislative Delegation for its consideration.
