WHEREAS, the Mayox-Commissioner has proposed the creation o£ a
Citizen's Governmcntal•.Participation Committee in ox der to bring our municipal
government closer to our citizens and to act as a sounding board an items of
broad community interest; and
WHEREAS, it is desired to create such a Committee to act in an
advisory capacity to make its recommendations to the City Con'imissinn and
the City Manager;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, A5
FOLLOWS;
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby officially
creates a Citizen's Gavernmental..Participation Committee consisting of
twenty five (Z5) members, to be established at the oxganizational meeting in
March following the municipal election on February S, 3,972.
2. The City is hereby divided into five (5) geographic districts of
approximately the same population in accordance v~rith a map which is hereto
attached, marked "Exhibit A" and made a part hexeof by reference. Each
member of the City Commission and the Mayor..Comrnissionex shall designate
one member who resides in each district. The five (5) members being
recommended by each Commissioner shail be appointed by the Mayor»
Commissioner. In the event that any Commissioner does not make such
recommendations within sixty (6Q) days after the date of the last municipal
election, then thane appointments will be made by the Mayor..Commissianer
with the approval of the majority of the City Commission,
3. The Committee shall select its own Chairman and Vice-Chairman
and establish its awn rules of procedure.
