WHEREA5, the City of Clearwater ie aware of the intent of the
Department and Bureau of Public Roads to improve the acceleration lane,
deceleration lann and traffic signal, 'as a part of the Urban Traffic Operations
Program to Improve Capacity & Safety {TOP1C5}, at the intersection of
State Road 60 {Memorial Causeway} and Island Way; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to request the Department to use TOPICS
funds to cover all coats of materials, equipment and installation of said
traffic control signals; and
WHEREAS, the City will, at no expense to the Department, assume
' sole responsibility for maintaining and operating said traffic control signals in
accordance with the Department's policies and the "standard Specifications for
Traffic Control Signals and Auxiliary Equipment"; and for the payment of all
casts for electricity and electrical charges incurred in the operation thereof,
out of City funds;
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IIY SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED. AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby requests the Department
and Bureau of Public Roads to use TOPICS funds to improve the acceleration
lane, deceleration lane and traffic signal at the intersection of State Road 60
{Memorial Causeway}and Island Way, all plans and specifications to be prepared
by the Department.
2. That the City will, at no expense to the Department, pay far all
electrical costs incurred during and after installation and future maintenance
and operations of said traffic control signals in accordance with the Department's
policies and the "standard Specifications for Traffic Control Signals and
Auxiliary Equipment. "
