WHEREAS, a latent demand far mass transportation exists in the travel
desires of those people now ovcriaading our highways; and
WHEREAS, the mass transit solution to be derived by t~eprogram of
the Central Pinellas Transit Authority will provide benefits to the entire
County in terms of solving our transportation problems;
NOW, THEItEFORE~ I3E IT RE50LVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
That the Cily of Clearwater hereby officially endorses the mass transit
grant program of tl~e Central Pincilas Transit Authority.

WHEREAS, the Cantral Pinellas Transit Authority was created on Juiy
2, 197Q, under State Law 70-907, to provido improvad mass transit service
to the Central Pinellas Area; and
WHEREAS, the mass transit sarvice in iha Central Pinellas area of
the County is not sufficient and adequate to meet the present ar potential
needs of the people in that area; and
WHEREAS, mans transit is an affective means at providing transportation
to those people who cannot drive ar afford a car; and
WHEREAS, a serious need exists for those who have come to depend
upon mass transit as a means for ir.tvaling to work, shopping and other
