A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSIDN OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE DISTRIBUTION
OF COUNTY-WIDE MUNICIPAL OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE
REVENUE ON THE BASIS OF THE 1960 CENSUS AND URGING
THAT THE APPROPRIATE COURT OF JURISDICTION
ESTABLISH A METHOD WHEREBY CURRENT POPULATION
MAY BE USED AS THE BA5I5 FOR DISTRIBUTING THESE
MUNICIPAL REVENUE.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater~s population has grown substantially
since 1860 when the official census was last taken; and
WHEREAS, the taxpayers of the City of Clearwatex shall receive
additional monies if current population statistics were used as opposed to the
1960 census for the distribution of County-wide municipal occupational license
revenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
i. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Flarfda,
hexeby officially opposes the distribution of County-wide municipal occupational
license revenue on the basis of the 1960 census and urges that the appropriate
court of jurisdiction establish a method whereby current population may be
used as the basis #or distributing these municipal revenues.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith
to she Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.
