WHEREAS, the 1962 Fcsderal Aid Highway Act requires ail urban
areas over 50, 000 population to cRtablish a comprehensivo, continuing and
cooperative transportation planning program with their States Highway
Department in order to be eligible for federal grants for highway improve-
menu after July 1, 1965; and
WHEREAS, the United States Bureau of Public Roads by Instructional
Memorandum 50-2-65 dated April Z8, 1965, Paragraph B. 5, requires that
all Federal Aid projects in the urban area be accepted by the governing bodies
of the local jurisdictions affected in areas which have not progressed through
the transportation system analysis phase; and
WHEREAS, the proposed highway improvements to S.R. 60 (Courtney

Campbell Causeway) from 5. R. 55 (U. S. 19} to the Hillsborough County Line
is an essential and necessary project, and is compatible with both the
comprehensive land use and major thoroughfare plans for the areas; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Transportation requests
that the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, by this Resolution
endorse the proposed highway improvements to S.R. 60 (Courtney Campbell
Causeways from 5, R. 55 (U, S. 19) to the Hillsborough County Line;
NOW, THEREFORE, $E IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORLDA,
iN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, hereby
approves and endorses the proposed highway improvements to S.R. 60
(Courtney Campbell Causeway) from S.R. 55 {U,S. 191 to the Hillsborough
County Line.
