WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florlda, a municipal corporation,
heroin called the Applicant, has been chartered by the Legislaturo of the
State of Florlda in due form of law; send
WHEREAS, the Gity of Clearwater, after thorough Investigation of
tha various aspects of outdoor racreational pianning, has determined that
the purchase of real property known as Sand Key is desirable and in the
public Interest; and
WHEREAS, this project comes within the purview of the Land and
Water Conservation Fund Act of 19b5 (P. L. 88-578}, which said Act provides
funds to various states on an allocation basis which is to be further divided
in a matching fund program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater ht;s, after duly considering the
said Act, found it to be in the public interest and to its benefit to file an
application under said Act and to authorize other action in connection therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORTT]A,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. ',Chat purchase of the real property known as Sand Key is essential
to and in the best interrst of the Applicant.
2. That Merrett R. Stierhelm, City Manager of the City of Clearwater,
Florida, be and he is hereby authorized to file in behalf of the 9pQlicant an
application in form xequired by the United States of America and in conformity
with said Act requesting Federal fur_ds to be allocated by the State for the
purchase of said real property known as Sand Key for outdoor racreational use.
3. The said Merrc:tt R. Stie.rheim, City Manager, is hereby authorized
to furnish such inforrnatian and take such action as may be necessary to enable
the Applicant to qualify far the assistance.
~. That the officer designated in the preceding paragraph is hereby
designated as the authorized representative of the Applicant for the purpose
x" of furnishing to the United States of America, the State of Florida and the Out-
;~t door Recreational Planning Committee of the State of Florida such information,
;~` data and documents pertaining to the application and otherwise act as the authorized
.'%' representative of the Applicant in connection with this application.

application for an advance to be submitted to the United States of America, the
