WHEREAS, it is also felt that the State Road Department should
consider the construction of an overhead road for eastbound traffic emanating
from and commencing at Island Estates on Clearwater Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMML55ION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1, That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
officially requests the State Road Department to include in the 1975 plans fox
Central Pinellas County and Clearwater road system improvements the
fallowing:
a. Eight-laning of Memorial Causeway (5. R. GO} from the West
shore of Clearwater Bay to East shore of Clearwater Beach;
b. Widening the bridge across the Intracoastal watexway and raising
the same to a height that would be compatible with water traffic
using this waterway; and
c, Construction of an overhead xoad for eastbound traffic emanating
from and commencing at Island Estates on Clearwatex Beach.
2. That certified copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Florida
State Road Board, Tallahassee, Florida; Florida State Road Department,
District Engineer, Bartow, Floxida; Honorable Donald R. Cxane, State Road
Board Member, St. Petersburg, Floxida; and to the Pinellas County Commission,
Clearwater, Florida.

WHEREAS, the growth of the Ci#y of Clearwater continues at n stoady
rata and the building of high rise condominiums and rnotolq an Clearwater
Beach is increasing with four now additions being under construction Est this
time; and
WHEREAS, there aro other undeveloped axeas available on Clearwater
Bach for high density nse: and construction, which probably will be utilized
during the next few years; and
WHEREAS, it is felt that the State Road Department should consider
including in its 1975 plane fox Central Pinellas County and Clearwater road
system improvements, the eight-laning of Memorial Causeway (5, R. 60)
from the West shore of Clearwater Bay to the East shore of Clearwater Beach
and also that the bridge across the intracoalital wa#erway be widened and
raised to a height that would be compatible with water traffic using this
waterway; and
WHEREAS, Island Estates on Cleaxwater Beach is also constructing new
residences and high rise condominiums and traffic from this area ie increasing
steadily; and
