WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced iota the Legislature of the
State of Florida concerning countywide ^ccupational license taxes; and
WHEREAS, this legislation contains a foxmula far distribution
of countywide license fees that would be grossly unfair to the Ciky of
Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, the C'tty of Clearwater, like many other cities in the
State, is adhering to a policy of holding the line on ad valorem taxes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater can ill afford to lose any of
its revenues raised by occupational license taxes;
NOW, THEREFORE, HE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY GF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS;
' i, That the City of Clearwater is opposed to any special legislation
concerning occupational license taxes which would tend to decrease the amount
of revenue xaised by the City of Clearwater from such taxes inasmuch as
the City operates on a tight budget and would have to find other means of
taxation to replace the revenue last thereby,
2. That this proposed bill contains provisions that would have an
adverse effect on the City of Clearwater's fiscal policies.
3. Further, we recognize that Court rulings on the subject have to
be abided by and that there are many concerns doing business in the Clty
of Clearwater who pay no occupational license taxes,
4, That a certified copy* of this Resolution be soot to each member
of the Pinellas County Le gislative Delegation.
