RESOLUTION
No. b5 - 88
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater hoe received a request frnm
Bayview Gardens T lousing, Inc. that a vehicular activated traffic signal
be installed at the entrance to their housing project on Gulf to Bay
Boulevard (State Road b0); and
WHEREAS, said vehicular activated traffic signal is deemed to be
necessary in order to insure the expeditious movement of traffic after the
Bayview Gardens Housing Project fs completed and occupied; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has also received a request from
the Clearwater Branch of the St. Petersburg Junior College that a
pedestrian activated traffic signal be installed at their location on Draw
Street (State Road 590); and
WHEREAS, said pedestrian activated traffic signal is deemed to
be necessary in order to insure the safety and well-being of tho students
attending the Clearwater Branch of the St. Petersburg Junior College, as
it is necessary that they cross this busy highway to attend their assigned
classes since the campus is located on both sides of the highway; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater is willing to purchase, install
and maintain these signals if the same are found to ba warranted after
a study by the Traffic and Planning Department of the State Road Department;
and
WHEREAS, this action requires the approval of the State Road Board
of Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
iN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the State Road Department and the State Road Board is
hereby officially requested to conduct a study as to the feasibility of
installing a vehicular activated traffic signal at the entrance to $ayview
Gardens Housing Project on Gulf to Say Boulevard (State Road 60), and a
pedestrian activated traffic signal at the Clearwater Branch of the St.
Petersburg Junior College on Drew Street (State Road 590).
2. That the City of Clearwater will purchase, install and maintain
said signals if the same are found to be warranted after such study.
3. That a certified copy of this Resolution be furnished the State
Road Department, Bartow, Florida, the State Road Board, Tallahassee,
Florida, and Honorable Vincent Nuccio, State Board Member, Tampa, Florida.
