WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, is concerned about
the provisions of Chapter 336. S9- Florida Statutes, 19G3, which provides
far the levy of a tax far road and bxidge purposes with a portion to be
returned to municipalities; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the Boaxd of County Commissioners of
Pinellas County, Florida, are going to abide by the provisions of said
chapter and section; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater is desirous of receiving any
monies it and its inhabitants are entitled to receive as a result of any
assessment against its taxpayers and/or property owners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COlv1M1SSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARVI~'ATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, A5
FOLLOWS:
1. In the event that the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas
County levy or cause to be levied a tax far road and bridge purposes against
real estate in the incorpoxated area of the Gity of Clearwater, Florida, then
the Board of County Commissioners is hereby respectfully requested to
follow the provi.sians of Chapter 33b.59, p'lorida Statutes, 19b3, with
respect to these funds and return to the City of Clearwater one-half of the
amount realized from such special tax so that the same may be used in
repairing and maintaining the roads and streets thereof in accordance with
the laws of the City of Clearwater. In the event that other funds are used by
the County for road and bridge purposes, then the City of Clearwater hereby
requests its share of those funds also.
2. This Resolution is not to be considered as a request for a tax
increase.
3. That the City of Clearwater does not hereby request special treatment
but requests the same treatment as that accorded other municipalities in
the County.
4. A certified copy of this Resolution shall be delivered to the Board
of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of Suly, 1965.
