WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has been requested by the
Pinellas County Legislative Delegation to submit any suggested
legislation with regard to changes in present law or enactment of new
laws concerning the City of Clearwater to the said Delegation prior
to Februaxy 1, 1965; and,.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has submitted its legislative
program to the Delegatian; and
WHEREAS, a small group of people, without the knowledge
and consent of the City of Clearwater or the Gity Employees Association,
has requested certain changes in the Civil Sexvi.ce Act of the City of
Clearwater, said changes being more specifically concerned with
the powers of suspension by the appointing authority, a morn particular
description of the said requested change being unknown to the Gity
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City Employees Association has passed a
resolution or motion on February 4, 19b5, at its regular monthly
meeting which requested the City Commission to use its influence
against any change in the Civil Service Act duxing this 1965 Legislative
Session;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hexeby
records itself as being against any change in the Civil Service Act
of the City of Clearwatex duxing this 1965 Legislative Session and
especially any change concerning the right and powers of suspension
of employees by the appointing authority.
Z. That a certified copy of this resolution be delivered faxthwith
to the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation and to the City Employees
Association of the City of Clearwater.
PASSED ANA ADOPTED this 10th day of Februaxy, 1965.
